The US protagonists in a viral fundraising campaign for a homeless man have been charged with theft by deception and conspiracy.
Kate McClure and Mark D'Amico raised more than $400,000 (£313,000) for homeless ex-marine Johnny Bobbitt.
But in August, Mr Bobbitt launched legal action against the couple, claiming he did not get his fair share.
Now, prosecutors in New Jersey say Mr Bobbitt was complicit in the alleged plot. All three face the same charges.

What is the crime? Stupid liberals giving money to stupid liberals.
The whole thing was a preplanned scam.
They need to go to jail.
I called this a while back, total fraud/scam
No crackhead bum gives up $20 for anyone, let alone some stranger bitch of a woman
They would have gotten away with it but the couple got greedy and only gave the vet 20%, and blew the rest on gambling.
I agree. GoFundMe is primarily in the business of making people feel good about themselves. They don't care where the money goes.
It's like the homeless bum on the street holding the sign that says, "hungry". You know he's going to buy booze but so what? I feel good. He feels good. Everyone wins!
Of course people are scratching their heads trying to come up with clever scams on GoFundMe. These guys nailed it! They just got greedy and brought attention on themselves and now they're screwed.
There is no loyalty among thieves. One turned on the others, that’s what went wrong. Everyone got taken, the media, the donors, everyone. Now a mess ensues that will never be righted. My heart bleeds for no one.

McClure replied: "I'll be keeping the rest of the money, f--- you very much." (emphasis added). McClure's best friend followed up with, "He could out you." (emphasis added).
She's not as nice as she appears.
They might be from New Jersey but I guarantee you they are Philadelphia sports fans — the lowest people in the food chain.
If the guy turned them in then that would be one thing. Instead, he filed a CIVIL LAWSUIT against them — which pretty much ensured that the whole story would come out.

United Way skims/scams more than that
Yep, they’re not the brightest bulbs going. He files a civil lawsuit and they blow it all on gambling, freakin idiots. I wonder if they’re democrats, they have to be.
