Browns want to interview Condoleezza Rice for head-coaching job
ESPN ^ | November 18, 2018 | Adam Schefter

Browns general manager John Dorsey said last week that he was opening to hiring a woman as Cleveland's next head coach, and there is one prominent name on the team's wish list to interview.

The Browns would like to interview former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for their head-coaching job, a league source tells ESPN.

If the Browns follow through on it, Rice would become the first woman ever to interview for an NFL head-coaching job.

Cleveland's interest in interviewing Rice comes at a time when women recently have moved into decision-making roles in men's professional sports. The Spurs hired Becky Hammon as an assistant coach, the Buffalo Bills hired Kathryn Smith as a quality control assistant, the Raiders hired Kelsey Martinez to their strength staff, and the 49ers hired Katie Sowers as an offensive assistant.

A potential interview hardly means the Browns will hire Rice, but they are interested in talking to her about the job and seeing what she could bring to the position and the organization.

"She's an amazing person," one Browns source told ESPN.

“Otherwise I think she would’ve been much more aggressive as SOS.”

How about her falling down on the job as National Security Advisor? Was that the fault of Bush as well?

The Browns should hire Hillary.

She has considerable experience with losing, and could give some great half-time talks, berating the players as “deplorable.”

"The Browns should hire Hillary."

LOL!

Her pep talks in the locker room would be epic!

"You guys didn't really lose! You had more points at halftime. We're going to tour the league and complain about that at every single game from now on!"

Condi would be a prize and she likes being around MEN.

Of course, she could expand the franchise into Russia?

This article is satire, right? Being an “amazing person” doesn’t’ cut it as a head coach. You really need to know what you are doing. I could see her leading exercise sessions or something like that.

I think this guy got some ideas from the owner of the Cleveland Indians in the movie MAJOR LEAGUE. He wants them to lose for some reason.

They could kill two birds with one stone. Hire her as a coach, and use her piano playing skills as the intermission entertainment.

She would be about as effective as a coach as she was as SoS.

Don’t clear a space in the trophy case yet.

FWIW, I think Dr. Rice has more testicular fortitude than most of the coaches in the NFL. And the players.

I don’t think it’s virtue signaling.

I think it’s desperation.

That said, I’d hire her in a heartbeat.

The Lions could use a new GM.........Based on the performance of our GM’s over the last 20 or 30 years, she couldn’t do any worse.

“How many teams were destroyed by the Rooney rule?”

well, the Broncos have sacrificed two years on the alter of affirmative action with their hiring of the competently clueless and incompetent Vance Joseph ... I figure that should immunize us for at least a decade while other teams run with the torch of destruction for each of their two years of penance ...
