A Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Louisville, Ky., has apologized to a mother who was asked by a manager to cover up while she was breastfeeding her seven-week-old daughter.

Sadie Durbin began nursing her infant daughter while she was dining at the American chain restaurant with her family, she wrote in a now-viral Facebook post, when a manager came over and told her to cover up.

“David Mitchell, a manager at the Texas Roadhouse on Shelbyville Road, brought me a napkin and tried lying it over my 7 week old nursing infant's face as he explained that he had another patron complain and that he really needed me to cover up,” Durbin wrote.

“I politely explained to him it is against the law for him to ask me to cover up and that I was well within my rights to feed my baby,” she continued.

Where are you assuming she gets that right from? It’s not stated in any Constitution, be it state or Federal.

It may be a God given right for her to breastfeed, but the locale she chooses to do so may require some modifications then when she is at home.

your sister is right.....God made men and women and gave us the ability to breed and for women to carry children and nurse them......

our western society has attempted to destroy all of God's work and it seems many freepers are against God's plan as well....

sad....but telling...

I always was discreet with my babies and felt I had to be hidden away when I was feeding them.....I am so glad that todays young women don't have to nurse their babies in the womens restroom....

Agreed - they should either cover up, or go sit in the lounge area in the ladies’ restroom, or leave the restaurant.

You’re right - it doesn’t take much to be discreet.

I prefer not to see men scratch their privates in public but does that stop them...

Changing dirty diapers is normal too, but I’d rather not see it in the dining room. What ever happened to common sense!

but you have no problem with nearly naked women pushed in all media but women actually feeding their babies is somehow so terrible?...

why would you want your babies to not be fed when their hungry, or make them go out to the cold car with their moms or just use the dirty germy restroom

I think its guilt....female breasts are, always have been, and always will be biologically for one reason only....to feed their babies..and that is not what men want to hear or acknowledge because its all about them apparently, not the children...

....”everyone’s a big attention whore now”.....

Especially pregnant and nursing mothers today who want everyone to pay attention to their nudity while pregnant and their boobs after while they breast feed. Obviously you can time when YOU eat after you've breast fed your baby at home. A restaurant is no place to do this while others are eating who really don't want to see your breasts hanging out there. This overboard attention to women today, pregnant and not, has turned into nothing but attention depraved whiners.

You have no recourse if you are uncomfortable with a woman breastfeeding indiscretely anywhere in Kentucky - public or private.

It has been that way for over a decade.

Actually feeding the baby does change it. At least according to Kentucky law. It isn’t considered indecent exposure if it is for the purpose of feeding a baby or expressing breast milk.

Look...this is about women who want the world to dance around their poor control of scheduling their time. There's absolutely no reason to feed a child in public...none....unless you're looking for attention.

I'm a women and see nothing all that special about breast feeding except between the baby and mother. It should not be something ‘flaunted’ in public. Woman know their baby's feeding schedule and can plan their activities around that.....

I think having to go to the restroom is unreasonable. Restrooms stink, there are often chemicals in the air and you wouldn’t want to be in their 20 minutes with a young baby. Similarly is there even a seat?

On the other hand common courtesy should direct a mother to fling a napkin discretely because anyone with a lick of sense knows that some people will be made uncomfortable by seeing a bared breast while in public.

It’s part of sharing a space with others. Not everything you do in your own home needs to be in the public square and not infringing on the comfort of other people’s use of a public space should be second nature to any adult and be imposed on any child by the adult responsible for them.

We have gotten confused in society and are constantly coerced by the fake Gods of women’s rights, equality, sensitivity and “privilege” into ignoring common sense, common courtesy and reality. The unintended or ignored consequences have burdened our Country unto death. Luckily the “Emperor has no Clothes” President is using his magic wand to roll it back but we all need to do our part.

That young nursing mother needs her mother or an aunt to clue her in about her place in the great universe, equal as one part of the whole, think of others sweetie, not just your prerogatives.

Let’s look at human history

Savages walk around with boobs bouncing or flapping in tropical environs

As you go up the civilizational ladder men and women are more modest

Except of course as you point out we are oversexualized

For a very long time women have used a nursing blanket etc to breastfeed in public

A very long time

Were all those women victims of horny male patriarchy

Most women I’ve known don’t want to be watched whilst breastfeeding and have some modesty in life in general

I’m no Puritan

I like little bikinis even thongs at the right discreet beach without our teen boys with us

Cleavage great

Legs...and dainty ankles....thank you lord

But I don’t think it’s appropriate to publicly breastfeed with the boob fully exposed

Nor is the boob I can assure simply a biological function organ

Maybe for some girls

But when girls are younger before babies the boobs don’t lie.....

After breastfeeding sensitivity does decrease and I’m sorry for that

On a conservative forum ....what an unusual stance you’ve taken

But feel free this is not an attack

In Louisville the law is in your side

I just don’t think most women agree

I could be wrong what do I know...I’m only a man..lol

I’ve never met a boob under 40 that wasn’t erogenous....for the record

And I think that instead of pushing your point about breasts being just to feed babies and normal and natural you think about the reality that you are making other people uncomfortable and be courteous. Just because you think people are wrong doesn’t change how they see the situation.

And I nursed my 4 children over a 14 year span in public without offending anyone or smothering a child.

Hmmm... I nursed around the clock nonstop. There was no schedule.

Of course, that's why I didn't take my babies to restaurants.

I breast fed in public with a blanket to cover my breast. Why is that so hard?
