Agreed. You pay at the end of the line at the register. I guess that they might grab the food and run.

odd at chipotles you dont get your food until you pay Which makes this story rather weird. Unless they were ordering and then not paying and leaving the food.
That kind of breakage can make the manager look bad and they get pressured by corporate to lower the amount of loss.
