Full title.......................'His house, his rules': Hilarious moment feline leaps out of his cat flap and pounces on an inquisitive raccoon to defend his porch.............

This is the hilarious moment a raccoon tries to get through a cat flap but is pounced on and chased away by an angry cat.

Footage captured on a home security camera shows the daring raccoon try to get into the house after looking curiously through the cat door in the Pacific North West, US.

The raccoon can be seen walking tentatively up the stairs onto a garden porch before curiously looking at the cat flap.

Suddenly the angry cat leaps out and pounces on the raccoon, using its paw to bat away the animal.

The 15-year-old cat named Bailey hisses at the raccoon in warning as it flees down the stairs.

The animal lies at the bottom of the stairs and looks up at the cat who continues to stand his ground.

They tolerate their humans as long as their humans do what the cats wants, but they apparently don’t tolerate raccoons no matter how they act.

Sadly the little fellows are often too brave for their own good.

Yes. Our kitty came home the other night with some damage to his ear. I try to convince myself he snagged it under someone’s deck, because I don't want to think he battled with a raccoon or other critter. It doesn't seem to hurt, and appears to be healing well.

Racoon probably decided that the pet hatch wasn't worth getting into a fight over.

Had to have the vet patch up one of ours after a run in with a very large raccoon. My best advice is never put any cat food like substance outside in raccoon country.

As for pet doors, the biggest problem we had with one on the garage was a possum coming in and sleeping in a cat bed.

Not my photo but you get the idea

Very funny! We have five cats. Our last home had a daylight basement with a door below our bedroom window. We installed a cat door in it so the crew could go in & out as they pleased. Well, a cute young female raccoon found the door & came inside. Finding food, she would come by frequently for a treat. Happily she left the cats alone.

One day I heard a ruckus & looked down at the door. There was the raccoon with the cat door stuck around her hips. She’d gotten quite plump on kitty food. She stood up & the door slid off. She hustled away, never to return...until the next spring. She brought back her three kits & sent THEM inside for a meal.

Smart raccoon!

One of the things I read said as long as cats and raccoons don't fight over food then they get along pretty well.

Raccoons are evil...hate them. One attacked my friend and bit her...must of had babies nearby...i saw one start to eat a live kitten..it died of course.—ppl don’t know they will kill a cat and eat the kittens...raccoons will boldly walk up to people ...
