BANGOR, Mich. — A woman arrested for stealing a car in broad daylight got into more trouble after admitting she stuffed a stash of meth in her private parts to hide it from police.
The owner of the car was Pati Martinez-Serratos, and customers at her Bangor hair salon said they couldn't believe what happened in front of her home Monday.
"I was in the house cooking dinner. We had some guys doing surveillance cameras around the house," Martinez-Serratos said.
When all of a sudden, Martinez-Serratos said, "We went to the garage, came back and the car was gone."
While technicians were installing the cameras around the house, a woman whom Bangor police identified as Michelle McCoy slipped into Martinez-Serattos car and drove off.
"She gets in the car, closes the door and says does the radio work, and they just looked at her like, who is this woman," Martinez-Serratos said.
For 25 minutes, Bangor Police Chief Tommy Simpson said, the 46-year-old woman told police she was on a meth-fueled joy ride before she was arrested.
"Once they took her into custody, she then began grabbing at the rear side of her pants, attempting to get something out," Simpson said.
Body camera video captured the arrest and the discovery of meth and marijuana in the stolen vehicle.
But the biggest surprise came when, "she later informed them that she had meth hidden in her anus," Simpson said.
The sorry attempt to hide drugs is a growing trend, Simpson said.
"The last couple of years we have been getting increased reports of people who are using or selling drugs and storing them in their anus or other body cavities," Simpson said.
Martinez-Serratos said it was a bizarre start to her week.
"I just thought it was pretty ironic because we are putting cameras in and they are not even running yet, and she comes and takes the car," Martinez-Serratos said.
McCoy is being held at the Van Buren County Jail on felony charges and had two outstanding warrants.

This is more common than you would think for repeat offenders. That’s where they hide their stash but they need to get it out and turn it over before making it to jail. They get the possession charge but avoid the charge of smuggling contraband into the jail facility. But I’d choose the front hole over the back hole if a) I was female and b) holding a stash.
There have been several article shared here about women hiding pistols in their “private parts.”
