I never liked the entire concept of Airbnb. If you pay real money for your home, you are also paying for the neighborhood. Especially if you own a co-op or condo, a situation with enforced "intimacy" by virtue of the close quarters, you need to have selected neighbors, not just anyone who can pay the rent. That's why co-ops and condos have boards to look over and approve the residents. Airbnb puts whoevers, many of which are party-hearty irresponsible bums, into units next to genuine owners who have bought into the community and have a vested interest in keeping it up. That's degrading the quality of the community. Airbnb seems singularly arrogant, caring less about inflicting their clientele on neighbors who expect to be surrounded by the people who the board approved, not random people. So supporting BDS is not a surprise about people who make their money in such a callous way.

I am appalled that Airbnb would support BDS. I would love to see that company go out of business just for their taking advantage of vacancies by greedy and irresponsible residents who should have more responsibility toward their neighbors, but don't. And now Airbnb has put themselves in an anti-Israel position, which leaves me puzzled. What would be the advantage of doing this to them? Are they just that stupid? Or is it just another manifestation of their uncaring behavior?

What would be the advantage of doing this to them?

Most corporations are amoral, but will signal their virtue as a kind of protection money, avoiding being bullied by the fascist left with their brown shirt tactics.

Sometimes the answer is simpler: they're idiots.

I don’t agree with ALL of your sentiments. (some of them, maybe)

I considered putting my house for rent on AirBnB since a friend of mine had done it.

She was careful about who she selected to rent it because she owned it and wanted it taken care of. If it was only partiers who would wreck it and bring down the neighborhood it would not be this successful. The only people I had come look at my house were executives.

Airbnb is actually illegal in many places for the reasons you described.

1. Most towns have zoning laws that would classify an Airbnb rental as a "hotel." Not only would this be prohibited in most residential areas, but it brings a whole additional set of health department regulations as well.

2. Condominiums and co-ops are governed by a master deed that would almost certainly prohibit the use of these dwellings as short-term rentals.

3. Every apartment lease I've seen has strict provisions against subletting without the approval of the landlord.

Maybe they want more Moslems to use their service.

BTW, didn’t Jesus teach, preach and minister in Judaea and Samaria, among other places? Maybe there is more than one demographic being targeted here.
