They don't want to accept it because it makes their darling Lincoln look like a tyrant. That is the only reason why they don't want to accept the testimony of Lincoln's personal body guard and friend, or the references to it by the Mayor of Baltimore in his book.
If this same evidence was applied to Jefferson Davis, they would embrace it vigorously.
