Every purebred I ever had suffered from significant health issues. I think I was just unlucky. The last one, a beautiful black and white Border Collie got pancreatic cancer that quickly spread through her entire system until I could see she was suffering to the point I had to do the humane thing and put her down. She was only 7 and I got her from a Border Collie rescue place when she was 3 so we only had 4 years together.

Aw. Border collies are great dogs. I have a half border collie half pit and he is amazing. One of the better dogs I have had.

Poor baby. But at least you gave her 4 happy years with you.

I’ve never been owned by a, ‘Mutt.’ I’ll have to look into that! :)

We currently have Treeing Walker Coon Hounds and Plot Hounds for hunting (all solid bloodlines; we raise them) and a Beagle and a Basset Hound as house dogs.

Previously I’ve owned Labradors and Bassets, a Dachshund and a Border Collie, and one Rat Terrier, ‘Chester The Molester.’ ;)

Loved them all. Miss them all. :)

I have a Jackabee, she is a constant joy except she is also a bit of a pain. I call her an Attention Terrier.
Stares at me all the time, won't just like Eddie did on Fraiser.
Nothing gets by her. Staring at me right now, sat her toy at my feet wants to play tug.

Best dog I ever had was a mutt I acquired when I was stationed in Thailand. Very affectionate, and a good watchdog. I really regretted I couldn't bring her home. Left her with a Thai friend who took good care of her.
