Why? So they can have an extended season so that more football players don't get their diplomas because they're all wrapped up in football instead of their studies?
We need more uneducated football players living on the streets in San Francisco and Los Angeles just so you can watch more football games?

8 would be enough, after that there always will be some teams with severe deficiencies. 8 gets you to the standard tourney bracket, yet with exclusivitivy

The season is too long as it is.
Four teams is enough. If you aren’t in the Top 4, you either have lost too much, or don’t have a quality schedule.
