In 1992 I was already convinced that Perot was in it to help Clinton (or rather the Democrat) get elected. People may not recall this but he got out of the race at one point citing that the Democrats had got their act together but got back in when he figured they were falling apart and those were the things he said to explain himself. I viewed Perot with deep suspicion. I could NEVER have voted for Perot as a consequence.

People say it was because Perot hated Bush but I suspect that he may have done the same for most Republicans of the time. He was in it to elect the Democrat.

Perot hated Bush with a white hot burning hatred. The kind that only a truly vindictive soul can conjure.

Had something to do with a big land deal down on the Houston area when Houston International Airport was being built.

Only reasonable way for Perot to avenge his getting screwed over by Poppy was to run for President and screw Poppy, and the whole country over with Clinton.

If you're lurking, Perot, screw you.

IIRC, didn’t Perot drop out of the race right before the Democrat convention? I always thought the timing was suspicious since that convention gave Clinton first crack at getting Perot’s followers on board. And when he got back in, he was able to dilute GHWB’s support.
