Tell us your budget first, then we can give you suggestions on good ranges.

I’ve had good luck with our GE Profile series gas range, but you’re going to pay $2,000+ for a 30” free standing single oven unit today. (Ours cost $800 in 1996)

If you want to spend $400 on a gas range, you’re going to get $400 worth of range.

You probably already know, but you’ll also need to re-jet the range for propane. They usually come jetted for natural gas, and will run very poorly on propane if not re-jetted. (Some ranges come with the LP conversion kit included.)

Budget wise, we bought the nicest basic range at Lowes that didn’t have a bunch of extra gizmos. We thought convection was just one more thing to break and most models above the one we bought were convection or larger than the opening in the counter (standard 30”). Their weren’t any purely mechanical ones on the floor.

I wouldn’t be opposed to paying more if we could be confident it would work reliably.

We've got,a five year old GE Profile dual-fuel range (gas top / electric oven). It's worked flawlessly.

But don't get me started on our GE Profile French door refrigerator. What a piece of junk.

You can buy completely restored vintage gas ranges. All the hand labor makes them expensive, but no electronics!

Take a look at Antique Gas Stoves for an example. They are gorgeous.

My parents had the opposite problem when they downsized into a new abode.

The NG range had a propane connection hose from the NG "main". Mother always complained about the oven not working right, and they replaced it after some years, the installation people finding the wrong hose.

The replacement range is pretty crappy, imho. Can't remember the brand, but it's owned by Electrolux.

Thanksgiving, I noticed problems with the stove when the NG-fired boiler came on, flaming out burners set to low. I suppose the oven draw didn't help either.

I was going to say the same. Although, the GE stuff is now owned by Haier. Wolf products are top notch, but cost a pretty penny. I guess it depends on what its worth to you. Spend the $ up front for a quality product, or spend it on the back end fixing a sub-par product.
