Drudge redirects to attack sites
My computer | 12/07/18 | steveo

Posted on 12/07/2018 11:12:25 AM PST by steveo

For the two to three days when I read Drudge I get redirected to various attack sites that are blocked by my Trend Microvirus. I informed the site but of course no answer. It happens on his insistence to reload the page every 90 seconds.

Sadly mistaken.
Complete bias subscribing to only conservative news, is an incomplete echo chamber.
Fact: a large amount of articles posted here originate from Drudge news.

I don’t Net-Travel very often on Social Media,
but when I do,
I always have my anti-virus protection switched on.
I don’t leave Home w/o it!

Likely one of Drudge’s ad feeds is coming from a compromised site. Happens to me on occasion.

Drudge doesn’t care as long as his ad money keeps coming in.

Pretty sure it’s the JavaScript embedded in the ads.

From a while ago:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1861078/posts

I ran a malware scan there were two concerns both associated with google chrome. Again I'm using the latest Firefox
I read that this has been an ongoing concern with Drudge Report over the years. I guess I will have to turn 'no-script' again. Thanks so much for your suggestions.

Drudge has been steady veering to the left since before Trump was elected but then it turned even more left.

Pretty much unusable at this point.

I had a very similar situation happen to me with yahoo.

Whenever I went to a yahoo article I would be redirected to a fake virus warning page.

I ran all the security software but I also found a yahoo folder in my directory which I deleted after I ran scans of the computer.

It hasn't happened since but I'm still apprehensive about clicking on any yahoo link.

TheLibertyDaily.com is a much better site go there instead.
....................

Way, way, way, way ,way too many ads.

Not to mention, TheLibertyDaily has the absolute worst title writer on the net.

People bitching about Drudge always sounds silly to me. It’s not like he’s writing anything. Just handy links to 99% of the same articles tons of other sites have too. But with far fewer ads, faster loads.

Drudge simply aggregates. Some Trump fans just can’t handle knowing what the world is talking about.

Drudge most certainly is writing something. He’s writing subjective headlines that often blare from the top of his sight. And those headlines are far too often slanted against Trump towards the left more and more these days. I just replied that Liberty daily has too many ads but I also agree that drudge is veering left and I hardly visit him anymore.

“He’s writing subjective headlines...”

It is a sad comment on modern society that some people are looking for headlines instead of content. Regardless your sense of its flavor, his headlines are generally brief and about something currently in the news.

I don’t know a site or even that it is possible to write entirely objective headlines. My biggest complaint with Drudge is the real estate he devotes to all things Hollywood. A filter for that would be nice.

The Liberty Daily has the absolute worst headlines / titles of any site left or right. Again, I can handle subjectivity in headlines and that site wins that race by a country mile.

The more annoying aspect is the ridiculous and repetitive usage of multiples of the most intentionally outrageous adjectives describing the person in the story instead so simpler, quicker-to-scan headlines.

I used to visit drudge multiple times daily from 1999-2011.

Now, I may visit once per month, if that.

.........................................................

The point, my condescending friend, is that Drudge is exploiting the fact that people largely react to only the headline without delving into the actual content of the story. By writing anti Trump headlines, he obviously is looking to sway the opinion of the sheep. I am glad to read that many here have the wisdom to recognize what Drudge is about and are now steering away from him. You want to stay among the sheep, be my guest.

I’ve been using Windows Defender for a few years and haven’t had the slightest problem. Drudge works for me w/o the problems you describe.
