I believe some of these protesters have been throwing tear gas grenades back at the police but I believe this one actually had TNT in it.

Dang. Don’t pick those up I guess.
That is tough to watch..
He’ll be called lefty now due to a bad decision.
I don’t know how much explosive is in one of those grenades, But I reload my own cartridges and it is amazing the amount of power that is contained in even a minute amount of smokeless powder. Some of the pistol cartridges that I reload which are powerful enough to kill a horse, take only a couple of grains of powder, which is 4.6 thousandths of an ounce. It is also amazing how fragile our bodies actually are. So I doubt that the grenade was anything out of the ordinary.

Shouldn’t it be bleeding more, or did the explosion cauterize it?
He’s a Rambling Wreck.
I would agree with that. The hand is an amazing appendage, but the sheer engineering genius that is big physical part of what makes us human, gives up in durability to deliver that.
It doesn’t take much to blow up fingers. The hand can take some dramatic damage that can be surgically repaired from crushing, twisting fracturing and bending, but even a small amount of explosives to the hand seems to cause an outsized destructive effect to the hand (and the feet)
Knowing what I know, unless the life of someone was in peril, I would be disinclined to pick up any kind of explosive thing that was in an armed state unless I was damned sure I had time...and even then.
Do not pick up Flash Bangs.
Hey Lefty, want to go get a pop?
I’ve always said that.
Subject material for Monday’s post under ‘humor’. Isn’t that what you did here for a while?
GLI-F4 Grenade. 10 grams of CS. 25 grams of TNT.
Let’s give him a hand.
I could not see the twitter-posted video clip, so I can’t say for sure, but...
When I was issued grenades (and as a supply sgt., issued them) there were concussion grenades which were the same size and shape as the smoke and tear gas grenades. I don’t know exactly what modern “flash-bang” grenades, which I understand are a lot less powerful than the concussion grenade of my generation, but still strong enough to blow one’s hand off if one is holding it when it explodes, look like, but ours were a different color than smoke or CN bombs. Given how they work, a smoke or CN tear gas grenade should start putting out smoke as soon as the spoon flies off, while a concussion or flash-bang would go ‘pop’ as the cap detonates, and then the fuse would burn for about 5 seconds before it goes “Boom!” DON’T PICK UP A GRENADE THAT HAS BEEN LAUNCHED AND IS JUST LAYING THERE, fizzing slightly.
What a dedicated protestor. I really gotta hand it to him.
He wanted a handout and got it.
Yep, they were using tear gas (CS) exclusively and recently (today?) switched to a combination of CS and “flash bangs”...protestors were used to throwing back CS canisters. Going to have to rethink that strategy.
