Better do something quickly ... depending on the National Health Service is not a good option as they will not evaluate out as “economically viable” ... NHS, where people go to die.

It’s a cultural thing, you know. Who are we to judge?

It is any wonder that the middle-east seems to be forever damned to live in conflict and rage? It’s in the genes, you know.

She’s awesome.

She says what we all think and everyone else is afraid to say.

They would consider abortion and selective IVF before artificial insemination from a non-carrier?!?!?! smh

Abortion is haram, even if continuing the pregnancy would kill the mother and child.

Wonderful religion, islam.

Mooslims don’t like to share estates when patriarchs die, so they have their grandchildren marry each other to keep it all in the family.

Mooslims are actually the inbred idiots that “Hillbillies” are alleged to be.

Plus, in a tribal society, marrying inside the tribe is necessary. It’s not just that they marry cousins, it’s that the cousin must be the father’s sibling’s child.

It is actually worse than that. There’s a bad tendency to MULTI-GENERATIONAL cousin marriage.

There are several factors pushing it.

When you marry a father’s brother’s daughter, she doesn’t have to veil in front of in-laws and family because they’re all legal guardians.

Your cousins are the only people you can both marry and go out in public with - i.e. date.

Since families tend to live together with paternal kin, she remains close to or next door to Mom, Dad and brothers - so she can actually get help and support from them instead of being at her husband’s mercy.

And there really isn’t a bride-price when cousins marry, whereas you have to pay for a bride you’re not related to. No money changes hands, either, when two relatives exchange two daughters so that each of their sons has a free bride. Thus economics is a MAJOR determinant. The next generation has cousins prone to marry each other, the very intertwined family tree making bad recessives likely to pop up.

Chelsea was born in Arkansas, but her mother is from Illinois. Have they determined who her father was? Probably an Arkansas native in any case.

“But I think of her when I read stories like this.”
_______________________________________________

My husband related a story about a personal experience that took place while he was in college after his first stint in the military.

Where talking almost 35-38 years ago.... a young Muslim girl was in one of his math classes. Apparently she was extremely smart...I mean EXTREMELY SMART....

She brought him some home-made cookies and they talked about a lot of math stuff... she gave him her home # at some point...

Shortly after that he called her at the house to see if he could meet with her to study about an upcoming test...

Well, one of her brothers answered the phone. Merciful Maude. What took place next blew his mind... Several other brothers apparently got on the line asking him why he was calling, how he met her, how he got her number.... you can imagine the drill...

And... she dropped out of college... as in he never saw her again on campus... he said he couldn’t understand what had happened...

This was before he even understood about Islam. It’s one of those moments that haunts him...knowing now how the women are viewed and used.... he thinks she probably thought since she was in America she was going to be granted the freedom of a relationship, even if it was only a relationship based on studying math...

I told him that it wasn’t his fault nor was it her fault. She was being groomed to be a wife worthy of a good marriage to some Muslim. He mentions her every now and then, wondering if she’s even alive.

He figures if he never called she may have been able to stay in college and be spared having to go back to her homeland. I remind him that she was under the control of her brothers because in her faith she was still property. With her father dead, her brothers more or less owned her.

She was only in college to enable herself to earn a good income in the homeland to be handed over to her brothers. Back then, there was no question at all: She *would* stay single and give them the monies she earned until they saw fit to get her married.

If she’s looking for companionship and reached out to an American who was prior military they were probably freaking out and figured it was time to just get her married and by that I mean married in the homeland to someone of their faith.

Poor girl.

Multiple generations of 1st Cousin marriages—recommended by the Koran, and practiced by many (possibly a majority of) Muslims—has a price.

I know. Horrible. Why not use third party gametes (donor eggs or sperm)? But no, they would rather make 10 embryos and leave most to die. Selfish.

In some of the pacific islands, where the men were often promiscuous, the uncle was the benefactor of the children and not the husband of the mother. Since paternity couldn’t be trusted, the uncle knew his genes were safely within his sister’s children.

This seems like another version of that.
