How is it alarmist? If where this quake hit is part of the New Madrid fault, it’s not good.

I wondered when I heard about it if it was part of that fault. Don’t think that would be fun regardless of our CA experiences with earthquakes.

What time did it hit?

Because small quakes relieve the pressure on the fault.

In general if you have small quakes the chance of a large quake is diminished. What you do NOT want is a big fault that is very very quiet. Because the earth is in constant motion it means that the fault is "caught" on something. When it lets go it will be a doozy.
