"And the next thing I know, he shows up. Everybodys like, 'Whos the Asian dude over there?' I just started laughing. I said, 'Thats my boy, Lin.' Theyre, like, 'How do you know him?' I said, 'Its a long story.' "

"It was, like, one of the most random things," Barkley recalled with a laugh.
"I was on a business trip," my dad said, "and stayed in one of the hotels and was walking in the lobby, and I saw Charles Barkley."
"I was in Sacramento speaking at a charity event," Barkley said.
"So, I just went to say hi and take a picture with him," my dad said.
"I was just sitting at the bar," Barkley said. "And me and your dad were the only two people in there. And we just sit down and started talking."
"He's a super nice guy," my dad said.
"And, before we know it, we looked at each other, like, Yo, man, Im hungry. Lets go to dinner, " Barkley said. "It turned into a two-hour dinner. And then we actually went back to the bar and just sit there and talked for another couple of hours. And the rest is history."

One of the great NBA players.
I preferred Larry Bird.
Many great NBA players of the past. Bird, Jordan, Magic Johnson, DJ, McHale, Ainge (my personal favorite; he was so cute and good), and so many more. The good ol’ days of NBA. Who was the great radio announcer......?

(I forgot to put your name in my previous response.)
Johnny Most?
I looked up "NBA" in Wikipedia. Apparently, it is some sort of organization having to do with basketball - a ball sport popular in some parts of the world.
Regards,
Anybody remember his argument with Michael Savage? After being called a racist Savage told him to go dribble a basketball.
Thank you.
Johnny Most.
When TV hosting got horrible, would turn off the volume on TV. Then turn on the radio and listen to Johnny Most and “watch” TV.
Then you could enjoy the game. Win or lose!
When asked how he got ready for games, Most said he gargled with Draino.
good story....thanks
Great story - thanks for posting.
Barkley’s got his faults (who doesn’t), but I always liked him - he seemed like a genuine person in contrast to the spoiled, over-payed prima donnas who make up so much of the NBA. Well, he probably was over-payed - but he does come across as just a guy in this article.
I like Barkley.
WAR EAGLE!
Barkley is a character. Great story!
Sometimes, Barkley is annoying. Sometimes, he is hilarious. I listened to him on ESPN College Game Day on Army/Navy game day, and he made me laugh with his picks and his method for picking.
“Havlicek stole the ball!”
Ha ha—Bird, McHale, DJ and Ainge. I detect a Celtics fan giving a nod to their old Philly and LA rivalries—and to Jordan.
I do too and never took him seriously. I don't think he does either.
I think I gained a lot of appreciation for him after watching him on The Haney Project.
And this comment:
Barkley: 'Hell Gonna Freeze Over' Before I Apologize for Calling San Antonio Women Fat"
Our newly elected Hugo Chavez congress will do their best to bankrupt this company.
......What?
He’s the “round mound of rebound.”
