I used to sail those waters every year and I’d see the Carnival ships at night lit up like the party boats that they try to be. It would be so easy to get someone you want to collect insurance on drunk enough that no one would be able to prove anything
But I bet that crosses everyone’s mind that hears of “another one”.
You’d just have to be careful of the surveillance cameras. On my boat I’d be careful who I took out to sea for long cruises
I cruise alone and don't meet with people in private. I let the housekeeper know that I never invite anyone into my room. People aren't aware that cruisers aren't vetted except for sufficient ID. The other thing is that there are some people who get along perfectly in normal situations, but can't stand the cruise routine together.

I went on a Carnival cruise with an old friend and her teenage daughter. Big mistake. The daughter and a friend were out all night on the ship and whenever we called security they knew exactly where the girls were. I think there are many cameras.
I never understood why cruise ships don’t have nets or sensors that would deploy the nets like air bags.
