Why The Left is Going After Tucker Carlson's Advertisers

WHY THE LEFT IS GOING AFTER TUCKER CARLSON’S ADVERTISERS

Tucker Carlson is losing advertisers after daring to speak the uncomfortable truth about America’s fetish with unchecked immigration.

Last week, Tucker said this on his show, “We have a moral obligation to admit the world’s poor, they tell us, even if it makes our own country poorer and dirtier and more divided.”

The reaction was pretty swift from notoriously weak-kneed corporate America.

First insurance company Pacific Life pulled out of his Fox News show last Friday: “As a company, we strongly disagree with Mr. Carlson’s statements,” Pacific Life said. “Our customer base and our workforce reflect the diversity of our great nation, something we take great pride in. We will not be advertising on Mr. Carlson’s show in the coming week as we reevaluate our relationship with his program.”

Note: Tucker never mentioned race, but Pacific Life did, unless by “diversity” they meant poor, dirty people.

Then celebrated Fox-hater Judd Apatow kicked into gear. The “Knocked Up” and “This Is 40” director spent his weekend calling out companies for continuing to advertise on Tucker’s show.

The Huffington Post reported, “As of Tuesday evening, at least 15 advertisers have announced that they’ve broken ties with or are in the process of breaking ties with Carlson, or have indicated they currently have no plans to advertise on his show.”

Left-leaning publications have gotten into the act, stoking the flames:

Do you see how the barely disguised glee in these headlines, and how the media works like a pack to do its work?

Tucker admirably refuses to back down, saying on Monday night, “The left says we have a moral obligation to admit the world’s poor. Even if it makes our own country more like Tijuana is now, which is to say poorer and dirtier and more divided,” he said.

“That’s what we said. It’s true… But precisely because it is so obviously true, saying it out loud is a threat.”

I’ve been to Tijuana, and it’s a S— hole. And I grew up in Southern California. Large areas, including the town I grew up in, have become S—holes due to unchecked immigration. It’s undeniable. It shocks me that everyone I grew up with didn’t become a pro-America conservative. Tucker is right on point.

Fox News is admirably standing with Tucker. A spokesperson for Fox News characterized the controversy as “unnecessary distractions” in a statement to HuffPost Monday.

“It is a shame that left wing advocacy groups, under the guise of being supposed ‘media watchdogs’ weaponize social media against companies in an effort to stifle free speech,” the spokesperson said. “We continue to stand by and work with our advertisers through these unfortunate and unnecessary distractions.”

Fox News sent out another statement on Tuesday, telling HuffPost via email that it “cannot and will not allow voices like Tucker Carlson to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts from the likes of Moveon.org, Media Matters and Sleeping Giants.”

“Attempts were made last month to bully and terrorize Tucker and his family at their home. He is now once again being threatened via Twitter by far left activist groups with deeply political motives,” the statement read. “While we do not advocate boycotts [Editor’s note: I do—we have no choice!], these same groups never target other broadcasters and operate under a grossly hypocritical double standard given their intolerance to all opposing points of view.”

Good for Fox. And good for Tucker’s sponsors who did NOT run like cowards.

These sponsors need to hear from us, and be supported. Look at the list and see where you can begin to direct your dollars.

And note the sponsors who DID pull out. They need to hear from us too. Let them know your disgust, and that you will not support them until they return to supporting good, responsible programming, like Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox.

The Left has had Tucker in its crosshairs for some time, mainly because of his expose of one of the lynchpins of their war on America (changing our culture and political makeup via immigration).

I first noticed this when he debated Leftist Young Turks’ host Cenk Uygur on this issue, and easily won the debate almost without trying.

I realized that Tucker Carlson is a powerful voice—because he’s smart, well-informed, passionate for the truth, and good natured. This is a powerful combination!

We the People must stand with those who stand for America. We know that the Left’s goal is to destroy all that is good, and that the majority of corporate America is weak—dependent on shareholders (who are often weak people themselves) for survival. Principle often has little to do with their decisions.

So if we decide to support them when they show principle, or leave them when they don’t, they will hear that message loud and clear. As the late, great Ronald Reagan once said, “When you can’t make them see the light, make them feel the heat.”

I welcome your comments.

We need to go after the Left’s funding.

Academic grants for humanities and social science.

The tax exempt foundations.

We need to start greatly restricting what counts as tax exempt, and greatly reducing academic funding.

Twitterbots. Rush has encounterd this. The same corporations that gave money to Al ‘Jew them down’ Sharpton to go away typically fold in these situations.

Agreed - this is what socialists do - destroy and silence speech in order to enforce thought control.

This is not how a free country acts and it’s time to fight back and destroy these sources of oppression. They are inside our borders.

Reagan had a "Defund the Left" plan to do exactly THIS in his second term.

It had the Left soiling its underwear. They desperately turned over EVERY rock trying to come up with something to stop him in his tracks.

What they came up with was Iran-Contra.
Funding saved for at least three more decades.

They want to silence anyone who sides with the citizens and the rule of law.

Bush League Republicans have been doing that for decades within the GOP.

There is only one opposition to limited, republican government - socialists who make “better” the enemy of good enough. Any fool can criticize, and all socialists do.

I say that there is only one opposition, but that does not mean that they all belong to a single group having a single front. In fact, there are multiple front groups, and the most influential of those groups is: wire service journalism. Meaning, the Associated Press and all of its member newspapers, and any other wire service and all its contributors.

There is a distinction only, and no difference, between such a journalist and a Democrat. Such a journalist claims to be objective (or, what is the same thing, belongs to a mutual admiration society which will claim objectivity for him/her).

Even President Trump pulls the punch when he speaks of “fake news;” the truth is that they are all Democrats in everything but name. There is a revolving door between journalism and Democrat politician/activist; George Stephanopolos is only the most famous example. A Republican becoming a journalist is never accepted as such by “real” journalists. Because “real journalists are Democrats.”

I'm reading Sharyl Attkisson's book "Smear," and this campaign against Carlson is exactly the sort of thing she talks about. Hannity is not exaggerating when he says that leftist activists like Media Matters monitor conservative media personalities 24/7 in the hope of catching them in some gaffe, slur, or personal indiscretion. The intent is explicitly to drive them out of business, to shut them up.

I can't remember his name at the moment, but there's that ex-military guy who used to appear on Fox and defend conservative points of view, who quit, and who has now become one of the most rabid anti-Trumpers of them all. You wonder if the Media Matters folks got something on him, and made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Ralph Peters is the guy I’m thinking of; you wonder if the left got something on him that made him flip.

I lived in an older neighborhood in Las Vegas. Ten to fifteen years ago an influx of South of the Border people began.

I recently moved from there because it is now dirtier and poorer. Crime rates skyrocketed. It’s now the #1 homicide area in Las Vegas.

The shame is this is a Free Speech issue. If you do not like what a person said then stop listening. Too go after the advertising is not correct but it happens. And unfortunately our side may have to fight fire with fire. Example, 'how many poor illegals will by a Jaguar or Range Rover?' Maybe we should ask Jaguar and Range Rover that question!

Businesses need to be smart and say we take no position on political matters.

Tucker is a threat to the prog left, much as Candace Owens is. Tucker not only has a number of former darlings of the prog left on his shows, e.g. Emeritus Prof Stephen Cohen, Glenn Greenwald, even Ralph Nader yesterday - but they actually seem to like Tucker. can’t have that. these guests are now pretty much persona non grata with the left media.
