Tragic: Every Single Bump Stock In Nation Suddenly Lost In Boating Accident
Babylon Bee ^

U.S.—In a rash of tragedies all across the United States, every single bump stock in the nation was tragically lost in various boating accidents earlier this week.

Coincidentally, the bump stocks have just been banned by the Trump administration. Since all the bump stocks have been destroyed, it's now impossible for the ATF to confiscate them or fine people who did not destroy them.

"Well, I guess our job is done," an ATF representative said. "We were gonna have to make sure people complied with this unilateral executive order, but now I guess we can just harrass gun owners for other stuff. Worked out pretty nicely for all of us, I think."

It's not clear why gun owners were taking their bump stocks boating. Some have theorized they were using them to fish, or just wanted to make sure they weren't stolen why they were away. Whatever the case, it's tragic that the bump stocks are now all at the bottom of lakes, rivers, and oceans from coast to coast.

An esp. silly ban as the same effect can be duplicated with nothing more than a rubber band. Still it clearly infringes on something that shall not be infringed. Symbolic but purely in a bad way.

Dog buried it in the back yard, along with the high capacity clips. Bad dog!

Or hiding in septic tanks. At the bottom. Please ignore the fine filament fishing line. Thanks.

A tacit concession that it is an inanimate object that causes the problems and not people. Nice touch government.

I wonder how many of those having the accidents almost drowned themselves.....

A more humorous point, nobody knew, so nobody cared, what the Hell a bump stock was a year and a half ago.

Hee, hee, yuck, yuck.

But the BOTTOM LINE is that once stuff is outlawed, we are CRIMINALS for having it, so its usefully is reduced to something close to zero.

For example, use a now-illegal gun or even a legal gun with a now-illegal magazine in home protection, and guess who goes to jail. And, needless to say, don’t even think about going to the range, or hunting.

In fact, the only remaining use is in a complete doomsday scenario, when we’re completely tribal (or in a full-out civil war). Even using now-illegal hardware in disaster becomes very risky.

I have no use for bump stocks so I couldn’t ever lose one.

However, I lost my only gun, a .22 years ago in a rafting accident.

This is not an attack on bump-stocks. It is backdoor attack on semi-auto firearms. You can’t bump fire via any method without a semi-auto. Beware!

Most 2nd amendment supporters are dismissing this a trivial, it's not. In fact this is the single most damaging event affecting the future for the 2nd amendment. We can joke about boating accidents but the fact is those that don't comply are risking their entire lives doing so. Getting caught with a bump stock after this takes affect is a FELONY that can put you in prison and when you get out you will never be able to own a firearm again. If you say "I don't have a bump stock, so who cares" well YOU WILL care when the next executive fiat action makes any magazine over 10 rounds a machine gun or any AR15 a machine gun or a Mini14 a Machine gun or a super soaker a machine gun.

Folks I love our president but this MUST NOT STAND.

GOA is suing and we all need to support this effort or the 2nd amendment is dead.

I wish that I could simply ignore Trump’s folly here. But this legitimately makes honorable, decent Americans criminals. And it also presents as an incredible dilemma for law enforcement. The Law is not a thing to trifle with. This EO makes a mockery of our system of justice. Not good.
