In my book, that is the best Scrooge movie. The music and lyrics are great, Albert Finney is fabulous, and Alec Guinness is hysterical as Marley.

That 1970 "Scrooge" that you linked was the first Christmas Carol movie I ever saw. Our teacher took us to see it on a field trip. I was in third grade at the time. Made quite an impression on me as I had not read the actual Dickens yet and this was my first exposure to the story.

Anyway, thanks for the link, it brought back some fond memories of more innocent times.

Lastly, it's a shame that no public school today would ever allow a teacher to take students on a field trip to see such a movie today, being it's about Christmas and all. We are not the same country today we were back then.
