WELLINGTON, Fla. - A shooting was reported Monday outside the Mall at Wellington Green in Palm Beach County as the complex was crowded with shoppers buying last-minute Christmas gifts, authorities said.
A spokesperson for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department said a gunman shot at deputies and wounded a police dog, which later died at a veterinarian emergency center.
Deputies said they waited until three individuals left the mall to make arrests, with two being taken into custody.
The third individual took off running and shot the police dog before deputies returned fire and wounded him, deputies said.

Shooting a police dog is legally the same as shooting a human I guess.
Too bad they can’t mount a gun on a police dog and somehow give the dog the option to fire it if it feels threatened by some scum. These brave animals deserve better.
Rest in peace, unnamed canine officer, you did your part to help make the world a little better.
Hey, here’s a great idea...let’s bring in MORE illiterate unskilled unaccompanied Hispanic bum illegals. Like, we don’t have enough homegrown criminals, we need to import more. That poor dog gave its loyal life to protect its handler. The dog was worth 20 times more than any of the 3 pieces of human feces who held up the mall. For my money, all 3 can die and rid us of the expense of incarcerating them.
RIP, officer.
Turn the perp over to Buster’s buddies. They’ll settle it up right.
This is about 5 minutes from where I live!!!! Always believed that this was a safe place to live!!! Guess there’s no such place anymore!!!
Oh, yes..doggie is an officer..he is there to protect human officers so you better not shoot him
Killed the police dog? Too bad the cops did not shoot him dead.
Beautiful post
Hope he dies.

Thanks, I feel for police dogs in that they handle some of the toughest jobs with not much in the way of protection. If I had my druthers in this case, the human officers would have permanently dispatched the human sleeze before he even got a chance to fire at the police dog.
Canine officers are the living actual epitome of the saying about the first responder being the one who runs toward danger while others run away from it.
I hate it when the police dog dies. Too bad the perp lived.
Aww. This kind of stuff is heartbreaking but the brave dog died in the line of duty.
RIP, hero K9.
Beautifully said,
Thank you.

Yup. A million of his ilk aren’t worth even a tail hair of police dog - or of any other of God’s fur-bearing critters, for that matter.
The K9s name was Cigo and he was 3 years old, and looked like a Belgian Malinois. Rest in peace, Cigo. You died protecting your partner.
The surprising thing was the police dog didnt die from being left in the car by his partner/handler, or being shot by a fellow officer.
I have a Belgian Malinios , and I would die , or kill , to protect her .
