“Normally, ketosis is considered a pathological condition associated with diabetes.”

yet another ignoramus spreading misinformation on FR. you are ignorantly confusing ketosis, which is nothing more than the benign condition that occurs when the body burns its own stored fat and ketoacidosis, which is a potentially fatal condition resulting from uncontrolled diabetes. the two conditions are totally unrelated except for having the syllable “keto” in both words.

If you think ketosis and ketoacidosis are "totally unrelated" except for "the syllable" keto, you're the ignoramus. That "syllable" refers to ketones (do you even know what they are?). The level of ketones goes up both in diabetics due to a lack of insulin and an inability to metabolize sugars, and in states of ketosis where the body is deprived of sugars. One is simply a more extreme state of the other, albeit with a different underlying cause. Someone on this thread commented that the difference between ketosis and ketoacidosis is like the difference between a buzz from a few drinks vs. alcohol poisoning. Quite right - alcohol poisoning is worse than a light buzz, that doesn't mean that being in a constant state of a light buzz is desirable either.
