Seldom has so much abject ignorance been displayed in two sentences!

1. The buildings were designed to fail during a fire:
   • The (steel) floor connectors were designed to support the weight of only 1.5 floors.
   • "Heat does soften steel..."
   • As soon as any one floor fell onto another, total collapse was guaranteed.

2. The floors were "square donuts" -- stacked around a central, guiding core and confined by a rectangular enclosure of external , vertical steel beams.
   • Once the heat softened (weakened by 50%) the floor connectors on a single floor -- sequential, top-down collapse was inevitable.
   • Watch videos of the collapse. The central core and curtain-wall girders guided the entire "pancake stack" of floors straight to the bottom.
   • The lightweight (low density) floor concrete reverted to dust -- and spread all over lower Manhattan. (Squirting out puffs of dust between each successive pair of compacting floors...)

3. "Thermite"? What idiocy!
   • A burned steel and aluminum building leaves behind traces of iron oxide and aluminum (the components of thermite)?
   • BFD!!! You'd be more believable claiming that a campfire leaves behind a component of gunpowder (charcoal)...
