I'm with you there Rusty....I'm one that seems to remember the unusual things especially before an emotional situation. My mother had just seen her doctor and said he had advised her to really watch her fat content of the food she eats. Being of her generation...she literally took him word for word and stopped eating a lot of necessary foods.(my necessary that is). It wasn't long that she started complaining about her tongue feeling strange. WELL, it was the beginning of ALS.

In 2001 I started taking folic acid...and when I get tired I wear a soft neck brace here in the house...and wear an ankle brace to make sure I'm steady while walking. Not sure if any if these precautions can help from getting ALS but it makes me feel I'm doing what I can.

ALS is a horrible disease. I’m sorry your mom got it. I too wear a soft neck brace a lot in the house. And when my neck needs it my son got me a air pumped traction collar.

My ex DIL got to where she cut all fat from her diet, and most of the kid’s. I told her the brain needs fats to function. Of course she was one of those that thought she was the only one that knew anything. On a side note, she got nutters and nutters, kicked my son out eventually and took him for all he had. See what can happen with extreme dieting? :-)
