wo women defied a centuries-old ban on entering a Hindu temple in the Indian state of Kerala on Wednesday, sparking protests and calls for a strike by conservative Hindu groups outraged by their visit.

Police fired teargas and used water cannons to disperse a large crowd of protesters in the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram, television news channels showed.

There were protests in several other cities in the state, media reported.

India's Supreme Court in September ordered the lifting of the ban on women or girls of menstruating age from entering the Sabarimala temple, which draws millions of worshippers a year.

You’ve come a long way, Baby!

In the age of the internet, it’s very easy to find out what other countries are doing and what the immediate effects are on society. Many women of India probably now know that other devout communities allow their women to move about at will, and guess what? No one has suddenly burst into the flames of the guilty. The earth did not open up to swallow the ‘evil’ ladies who think more independently.

“India’s Supreme Court in September ordered the lifting of the ban on women or girls of menstruating age from entering the Sabarimala temple”

Wait a second, what are these women doing outside of the menstruation hut in the first place?

Even the Bible does not look kindly at women getting too much power in the churches. They may not teach men and must remain silent in group settings.

The reason is simple. Put women in charge and they start undermining the religion/nation because feelings count more to them than logic.

Mount Athos in Greece doesn’t allow any women to enter. In many churches we don’t have women priests. I don’t think this is a sign of “backwardness” or “discrimination” — they have temples where men can’t enter and there are other temples for this god where women can enter. This is one temple with these restrictions
