My daughter drove through the DC beltway during rush hour yesterday hoping the shutdown would make traffic bearable. It didn’t

I do a portion of the DC beltway each day on my commute from Alexandria to Laurel. I'm surprised at how little the traffic has eased - although it has, slightly.

I think part of the slowdowns can be attributed to an increase in accidents! When there was an easing of congestion, I did notice the idiots around me driving recklessly (more so than usual).

My neighbor drives a semi from Aberdeen, MD to Fairfax, VA every day. I don’t know how he does it.

It goes to show what theatre this shut down really is. Outside of the PandaCam, Government is operating.

My son works as a contract employee at a NASA facility. He said it’s tough to get in because most gates are closed, but they can’t shut down space missions.

My wife is a DoD employee so she still works (she is listed as essential so she would have to whether she got paid or not). She says the traffic is about the same traveling from Stafford to Ft Meade.
