A man tries to kidnap a woman by forcing her into his car, in north Charlotte. She breaks free, and runs into a nearby karate studio pleading for help.
You can already see how this ends: with the suspect being carried out on a stretcher after a fight with a karate head instructor.
The incident happened at 9 pm Thursday outside Bushiken Karate Charlotte Dojo, according to CNN affiliate WSOC and the head instructor, Randall Ephraim.

This “dumb crook” moment ranks right up there with the body-cam video I just watched where a burglar was taken down by a Tulsa PD K9 after breaking into the TPD FOP lodge building. The dog was seriously chomped down on the perp’s shoulder and didn’t really want to release. Guess the dog thought the guy was going for the supply of dog treats at the lodge...

The gentleman has 4th Dan marking on his obi (belt) … which is considered just below master rank. In some systems it is considered a “junior master”. Once past 1st or 2nd Dan, a practitioner is officially a bad ass …
Unless they are ranked in a system which awards black belts to 12 year olds. We call those schools “candy shops” or “McDojos”). This guy is not from one of those systems. Untrained people no matter their size generally would have little chance against someone of that rank.

MMA is a sport … they have judges, referees, rules, Not really trained for using lethal techniques or against multiple opponents/weapons. Life preservation based martial arts systems teach these techniques at length. I as the head instructor at my school (I have three schools) have trained/worked with a couple of UFC fighters. I was challenged last year by an instructor at the local MMA school. Besides the fact that the challenger was 38 6’4” … I’m 68 5’8”, I declined the challenge. Why? Because the challenger would expect me to follow his schools/MMA rules. My system is based on life preservation and has no rules so to take on a much younger much larger opponent I would have to use techniques that are not allowed in MMA. Eye gouging, biting, full on destroy your knee/hip/elbow/wrist joint strikes ETC.
From his belt, looks like the guy is a fifth Dan (rank) in karate - IOW a seriously trained and disciplined expert. He’s also a big guy. Bad move, scumbag!

PS The instructor is black - not that Freepers care. This is just noted for the leftscum lurkers who think we are all racist here. We are not. We cheer for the good guy. Period.

Yup.
I’ve actually used an elbow inversion technique against a much younger perp in a real mugging attempt. Wasn’t fair. Wasn’t sport. Wasn’t meant to be. He attacked me, I won, he lost. Total confrontation took about a second or two. (Incidentally, a human being - if the term applies - makes a very interesting sound when their elbow ends up bent the opposite way it normally does.)
Now I’ve also sparred a retired Marine hand-to-hand combat instructor - one who used to train other instructors. We obviously both pulled our blows. Not ashamed to admit I regularly got my ### kicked. Lol.

It’s probably like what happened to the fool who tried to mug my daughter (4th level black belt) and her Karate Sensei.
They disarmed the mugger, beat the boogers out of him and then told him he could reclaim his gun and wallet at the local precinct.
You misunderstand. The Darwin Award is for the original stupid fool who attacked a woman near a karate studio and ran into the studio after her.
