I grew up in Rockland county. There are large communities of Ultra-Orthodox communities that have been impacted by lack of vaccinations. Of course, Pacific Northwest is home to nutcases whom refuses to vaccinate their kids.

Darwinian law is very unforgiving. However most baby boomers had the measles and survived without serious complications. The lack of vaccinations in these groups underscores an unhealthy indifference to science.

Please enlighten me. Why do Orthodox Jewish folks refuse to vaccinate? They always seem like a pretty intelligent bunch.

Infectious Diease ping - Measles - (NYC/ Rocland Co./Oregon/Washington State)

Cases of measles have reached a 20-year high in several New York counties amid an outbreak that threatens to reach epidemic proportions, experts say.
Highest percentage primarily among Orthodox Jews and anti-vaxxers.

At least 160 people have been infected by the virus, which typically strikes children, in New York (Brooklyn)
and unusual outbreaks have been reported internationally.
Meanwhile, 25 other states have reported outbreaks, with numbers climbing particularly high in Oregon and Washington.
Among other countries, Israel has seen a recent resurgence in measles.

In October, the sudden uptick in cases in New York City was linked to an unvaccinated traveler from Israel.
As the infection worsens, complications can include diarrhea, lung infections and brain swelling.

Some one in 20 children that contract measles develop pneumonia, making it highly dangerous to young kids.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

I had measles in Wasilla about 5 or 6 years ago. I couldn’t believe it.

Doctors knew more about how to treat measles back in the day. I remember my mother keeping the room dark; there is a danger to the eyes.

These diseases were nothing to laugh off.

We have to give the vaccines one at a time. If it costs more in terms of physicians’ time, so be it.

My kids are all vaccinated but I steadfastly refused their having the combined MMR vaccine that is banned in Israel, France, and Japan for a high mortality and side effect rate.

Instead they received separate vaccinations for each disease and the vaccinations were spread out over a period of two years.

I also insisted on mercury-free vaccinations since they are available.

I mean why put mercury in your body if you don’t have to?

I was vaccinated against the measles when I was a kid and still contracted them.

Quick Robin, to the Batcomputer!

Show me a map of illegal alien settlement by the USG and the an overlay of the location of these outbreaks!

Holy Hantavirus, Batman! This looks like the work of the Usurper, and his henchperson Nan-skeletor!

Let’s not forget Hilleaky, Robin. No doubt her gnarled hand and soiled undergarments are pulling up the adult diapers on this foul scheme . . .

Didn’t DeBlasio institute single payer healthcare for all in NYC? Now all of the sudden people are dropping like flies?

I am interested in your rather unique claim that the PNW has more than the usual vaccination deniers. Seems like something from the deep south to me.
