Today’s Cryptogram

Today’s Cryptogram

RQN IBY KQVJSJPB IKQ GVPRQK UP QIGE PUEQK UEIB QJUEQK HJSEU XKQWQK. UEPHIR HPKQ

Any solution time under 8 minutes is good on this one. Under 4 excellent, and under 2 exceptional.

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications, unfortunately they are copyrighted so we can't use them here. So, we're just going to make up our own.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter.

For example:

AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram)

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solves these puzzles. You can certainly send your solution to my private reply or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

It’s easier to work on the puzzle without having to use your pencil.

Let me know if you want on or off our Cryptogram Ping List, (currently at 39!)

Solution to our last puzzle:

MORAL INDIGNATION IS JEALOUSY WITH A HALO. H. G. WELLS

Sometimes the shorter quotes are the hardest, and this one was a challenge. The average time was just under 10 minutes. We had a couple people who got it right away under 2 minutes. Great job.

As always, I have only one solution.

I just reverse engineer the puzzle to my solution.

Quite hard, until I looked at the letter frequency and intuited ‘E’.
Oh, and Dann You Autocorrect.

Yes, when you can’t get started, count the letters and figure the most frequent is going to be “E” and the next “T”...still this one was hard, IMO.

4 1/2 minutes.
Hals cryptogram helper is a great tool.
A little luck doesn’t hurt either.

Once I took a guess (the correct one, as it turned out) on the two-letter word, I was able to fill in several other words one at a time pretty quickly. About 3 minutes (although I wasted 4 minutes first trying to figure out the consonant cluster that showed up the most.)
