A 14-foot crocodile that mauled an Indonesian woman to death was illegally being kept as a pet at the facility where it happened, officials said Wednesday.
Deasy Tuwo, 44, the head of a laboratory at a pearl farm in North Sulawesi, was feeding the crocodile in its enclosure on Jan. 10 when she was killed by the 1,500-pound reptile. It was not immediately clear if she fell in the enclosure or if she was dragged by the animal. Police are investigating the incident. ..."
Hendrik Rundengan, from the local conservation agency, said Merry had eaten one of the woman's hands and most of her abdomen was missing.
"These parts may still be inside the crocodile now," he said.
The crocodile, named Merry, was being held at the pearl farm illegally.

Ms Tuwo was head of the laboratory at the pearl farm and was feeding Merry on 10 January when she was killed.
Some reports say that the crocodile dragged her into the enclosure but local conservation agency officials believe she fell in.
I am sure the croc just got confused! (/s)
Hope my cat isn’t planning something....
I hate when that happens ...
You don’t keep 14 foot alligators as pets,
they keep you as snacks.
Too bad, she was kinda cute.
“A scientist in Indonesia who was feeding a crocodile died after it jumped up an eight-foot wall and pulled her into its enclosure, according to The Sun.
The scientist, Deasy Tuwo, who was 44, was found by co-workers later after they noticed something odd in the water on Friday.
The 17-foot-long crocodile, named Merry, still had Tuwo’s body in its jaws, the newspaper said.
After several attempts to retrieve Tuwos body, police did so after getting the reptile under control.
Officials took the crocodile away on a flatbed truck to a wildlife rescue facility to conduct medical tests.”

“Too bad, she was kinda cute.”
And according to the crocodile, she was really sweet.
People and their exotic or dangerous pets. They always think their animal is different, that their connection with the creature is special, that it’s other people who just don’t get it, that it won’t happen to them. . Idiots.
If you’re ignorant enough to keep something like this as a pet, I can’t feel sorry for you when something like this happens. Pro-tip: if you commonly go see the animal at a zoo, you shouldn’t have one as a pet. As for that pit where this thing was pet, I don’t want to imagine the smell. I’m betting those brown floaties are not mud balls.
Cuddling a croc?......darwin award.
Like pit bulls I blame the owners (sarc)
Jumped up an 8-foot wall, I’m calling BS on that. I’m betting she was sitting on the wall just like in post #3 above and when she got up, her feet somehow slipped and she fell into the pit. From that pic, it’s pretty easy to see how that could happen.
Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

I’ve seen video of one climbing over a 6 or 8 foot chain link fence. YouTube.
I hope the croc survives. It’s an innocent animal. Really. We had gators all over Florida, on the golf courses, even in our swimming pool one time. We learned to live with it and to keep our cats and dogs inside or on leashes.
Sorry the woman died, but it’s entirely her fault.
I believe you then. I never would’ve guessed that.
In this case, you are correct!..................
