In the spring, when there’s lots of warm weather, water, and sunshine, plants (and animals) thrive.
In the winter, cold weather, not much sunshine, plants and animals don’t do as well.
It’s a little thing that most people would realize before trying to plant a living organism on the DARK SIDE OF THE MOON (or the light side either, for that matter).
Thanks for the mention.
The soil issue interested me because of the possibility of up-scaling. I realized you might not even need land, because of hydroponics. That’s why I mentioned it.
Thank you for the mention.
“DARK SIDE OF THE MOON (or the light side either, for that matter).”

I think you might check up on your astronomy there, especially Lunar-related.
Yeah, surprising. I read up on old Russian experiments on Earth for Moon plants and wheat was their big subject.
Ethanpl is also a very good rocket fuel.
“ Good for morale, and good for industry!”
Here’s the deal: If you have sterile soil, fertility means nothing if you produce food with little-to-no nutritional content.
This is the root of the glyphosate debate...that it’s killing the bacteria which give our food minerals & vitamins.
There’s an abundance of research demonstrating that the nutritional content of factory farming has dropped dramatically over the decades.
Food is one thing; nutrients, quite another.
Nah. It’s nazis!
Iron Sky
“The Nazis set up a secret base on the dark side of the moon in 1945 where they hide out and plan to return to power in 2018.”

hard to believe they actually grew them
Jim ...
Heh. Good ol’ Bones makes his pronouncement.
NOW, wait a “cotton pickin moment...”
Next headline from Peking: “Red China establishes cotton plantations on the moon”. Clothes to no longer say “Made in China”. Now will say “Made on the Moon”.
What next? Silk Worms? Won Ton Factories; Green Cheese?
That sounds like the Washington Compost's slogan.
#22, Looks like a scene from “LIFE” or an earlier Sci_Fi alien wormlike creature infestation of a space ship.
I prefer the female vampire infestation in “Lifeforce”.
If you’re gonna have a female space alien, make them all look like her.
Thank you for the mention. I wouldn’t doubt what you said there.
I’m not a big fan of the corporate farming enterprises, and I detest the idea of non repeating seeds.
One (1) cotton seed sprouted and then died. All the other variety seeds did not sprout. No story.
They should have. Successfully growing cotton is one thing.
Getting it picked is another.
The US is a prime example of problems you get by not picking your own damned cotton.
They may or may not be dead, but they are entombed.
“make them all look like her.”

Mathilda May, circa 1985! Yes!!
Funny as crap! Very true as well. Cotton killed us.
They missed that page in the plan they copied.
The Chinese are proof that IQ isn't everything. It's a lot but it aint the whole ball of wax.
