Wouldn’t a woolly mammoth tiara be both hairy and horny? /S

I have been recently working Alaskan fossil mammoth ivory into pendants. It is fantastic stuff
It is extremely easy to work and the color variation is spectacular.

Looks to me like that interpretation is a bit forced.

If it isn’t too much to ask, how about a picture of some of your pendants?

Maybe it was more like a hair barette than a tiara/crown.

Works for me. Although I wouldn’t call it a tiara.
There is a hole in the rounded end of the tiara, where a cord was threaded to tie it at the back of the head

Just a little bit forced, isn’t it?
I think it looks a lot more like a letter opener.
Who knew men were wearing womens’ accoutrements 45,000 years ago? Those guys were sure woke. Based on this find, it is obvious the gals didn’t need a #MeToo movement.

Id love to get a set of grips for my colt SAA made out of fossil ivory. Any suggestions?

Before being discarded
They didnt recycle?
Theres like a million things you could do with this stuff.
You could use it to repair the brakes on your car.
You could make a computer out of it.
But, no....they just threw it away.
A good plastic tiara would never have broke.

Headband. Big deal. I mean, it’s a big deal that it’s super old, but other than that ...

it's size indicates it was for male, not female, use. Are they sure? The Denisovans were big fellas and gals going by their finger and teeth fossils. Could be a giantess who needed to keep her hair out of her eyes during Snu Snu.
Even our closest cousins, Cro-Magnons, were big fellas with bigger brains than those of us moderns. We've devolved around 200cc of brain mass, and there's little evidence that our brains merely became more efficient during the downsizing.

Cheap plastic tiaras from Dollar Tree break easily.

A piece of leather would have been a lot more comfortable.

Probably too pedestrian. Everybody wears leather.
