I have a heavy duty parka that I bought while in Milwaukee in the 1980s still hanging in my closet here in Knoxville, TN. It’s down filled and subzero rated. Used it for cross country skiing trips to northern WI with -20 F temps. Even back then it cost about $250.00. Really good super cold weather duds are expensive.
Better description: ...........men. Perhaps those rascaly teens again? Maybe youths? Driving a mercedes and having to steel a winter coat? That narrows the group down considerably.
I bought my wife a Canada Goose coat for combined Christmas/Anniversary/Birthday gifts.
She loves it.
Sure, it was $1000, but from a husband’s point of view, that knocked out 2 additional head-scratching gift selection problems.
Price reductions on coats with holes and stains available.
Driveby shopping. How convenient.
CHITown setting new standards for fashion and stuff.
Way back in the day I bought a Loden cloth car coat and it saw me through a bunch of NY blizzards while I went to school there and afterward.
I inherited a bearskin coat from my uncle and I wear it now. It has the tanned side out and the fur inside. I saw one on a guy who got his from Nieman Marcus in Dallas, but I was too polite to ask him how much it cost.
Probably north of a Canada Goose coat.
Ya think I’m a target? Or will they walk softly around a grizzled old guy who might have killed and skinned his own bear?
Bot a 61 VW truck back in the ice age...I still got it.
Have a belt..from the iron age...I still got it.
I've a circular saw...a Craftsman..that has brushes,,( Ought to wonder some FReepers there..) that has a natural rubber cord...and runs just great still!!!
Got some boots that are Dan Post's....and a Stetson that are older than the last three dogs...I've had.
I like old stuff....and new stuff too!!!
Very likely because this robbery took place in Chicago. Fox News NYC left out the location where this took place when they picked it up from AP. But knowing where the location is and avoid it can be helpful to anyone going there.
Me too, and she picked it out and loves it! excellent coasts, heck a good top of the line coat costs $600 and up these days. I can buy a $5 polo or spend a lot more, depends on what you want. I don't criticize people for spending their own money on whatever they want.
I got a pair of Bass mocs with Vibram soles, sort of, at this point. They’re ~30 years old, and I’m going to have to retire them this year, unfortunately.
At least they’re not likely to shoot you, since they’d ruin the coat.
Maybe after they get it?
Probably so. Shitcago’s a great city.
The nouveau riche Chicoms quit buying these outrageously priced jackets because of a political dust up and the stock price crashed. Ha ha .
Its the life-cycle of many brands. Niche, functional, blue collar gear catches fire among urban trendies.
Same thing happened to North Face and a bunch of other quality clothing companies. They are just brands now owned by mega corporations. All made in the same Chinese factories.
What’s weird is that when I was growing up no one had this greed and no conscience. I remember being envious of this new girl who moved to our school. She had a small neck scarf to go with all her outfits. I envied those scarves. It just made me babysit more & get my own scarves. Wanton violence for things you did not work for is so appalling.
It’s a different world for some people.....
I think..I’ve. got you beat.
