The author of this steaming pile has apparently never seen Mr Newmans self-proclaimed favorite movie, Slap Shot
I almost never miss that on when it is one. Newman was in his 50’s when he did that picture and guess what it was written by a woman.
LOL, I love that movie!
Didn’t know that was his favorite, but I will say he was a rare liberal who put his money where his mouth went! I guess you can call Slap Shot a cult classic...it was timely as the flailing expanded NHL figured it could fill seats by having brawls. Most notables were Dave “Tiger” Williams (Maple Leafs), Dave Schultz (Flyers), Bob Probert (Red Wings), Marty McSorley (Penguins) and the guy announcing on NHL Tonite, I believe, Mike Milbury. Milbury was the first player to go into the stands at an NHL game in Madison Sq. Garden when the Rangers fans threw things at the bruins players. Someone can fact check me but I believe that’s true!
