MCCALL, Idaho The Idaho Sled Dog Challenge wrapped up Friday night as the mushers and their dog teams made their way back to the finish lines.
The 150-mile race wrapped up Friday afternoon at Lake Cascade in Valley County.

Second place was Justin Harris, who came in just 12 minutes behind Campeau.
Campeau said she wasnt racing to qualify for anything, this race was just for fun.
She said she didnt expect to win, but shes thrilled.

Thank You Morgana

Nice...thanks for posting! Bow wow or woof woof!
My sweetie got to meet Martin Buser many years ago & pet some of his dogs. What fun!
Heh, I misread the title, I thought at first that it was Iditarod. I think that explains Congress pretty well, a long slough through a bunch of cold idiots.
Poodles used to race, but got a racist decision against them.
Yes, poodles raced in the Iditarod. Heres their story.
John Suter had a dream. An odd one, but there it was: He wanted to run the Iditarod with Standard Poodles. Suter spent 14 years pursuing that dream and he made it. Sort of.
He ran teams with poodles in a number of smaller races to qualify for the Iditarod. He and his teams with poodles finished the Iditarod four years in a row; one year he placed ahead of twelve all-Husky teams.
What do racing poodles look like? Sturdy, not fussy those silly poodle cuts are right out. A village boy told Suter once on seeing the poodles, Mister, you cant race sheep only dogs are allowed to race.

The poodles have a different character than the huskies, too. WP:
Even today, however, Suter thinks he was onto something that might someday have led to a poodle victory: Hed raise the poodle puppies alongside huskies, and the poodles copied them, he said. Several generations of dogs in about 80 black, white and brown poodles he said he saw the dogs picking up a husky-like drive to dash through the snow, while retaining their poodle essence.
If you fall off the sled, the huskies will keep running down the trail, said Suter, whos a stevedore at the port in Anchorage. The poodles will turn around to see if youre there and do a U-turn and come pick you up.
In the end, he ran up against prejudice; the racing committee decided to limit the race only to huskies.
Fun stuff here is a bit more.
When poodles raced in the Iditarod

By 1991, Suter had raced poofy poodles in hundreds of dog-sledding competitions, appeared on “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson — and four times completed the Iditarod with part-poodle teams. They didn’t do half badly, finishing in the lower middle of the pack and earning an eternal spot in Iditarod trivia books.
