McDonalds is an entry level job, for kids in high school. It is not a career job. This is hard for Democrats to understand reality
The other reality is - if McDonald’s is forced to pay a minimum of $15/hr, they will move toward more automation. Machines will ultimately be cheaper, they don’t take breaks, they don’t call in sick, and don’t talk back when asked to do something.
So - a few people will get paid more, the others will get paid nothing - and the cost for government subsistence for those not employable will go up
