Understanding that I am an Anglophile it pains me say this for the 100th time-

As an ex-pat - I don’t agree.
They’ve been lied to for decades but it is all being exposed. They’re angry, I’ve talked to some and it’s palpable. In the last five minutes of episode 3 Tommy even states that something is going to give, maybe it is his murder - but then he’ll still win....the UK will explode.
Too late by at least 15 years.
I understand your pessimism....but it is about to explode, just requires the right spark. How it’ll happen - who knows? ...but the powder keg is full. They’re awakening, it wasn’t happening before.
I met a complete stranger from the UK (from near where I grew up) at an airport a couple of months back. A younger guy, wife and kid, we just had light discussion. Almost out of nowhere he asks, “So you know about the ‘whole Tommy Robinson thing’”? You could taste the tension. There almost seems to be a silent ‘Tommy army”, silent for now.
This man is the most controversial man on the planet...for those that are truly listening to the Christianity vs. Islam dichotomy. The media will only portray him as a “far right thug”. Reality requires the person to only rattle all right cages to receive this reaction....and all the cages are rattling. The rank-and-file army are from exactly the same places as Tommy. There is a thread of thought resonating through the foundation of the core culture....and it is resonating in EU in general.
The same thread of thought wants “their Trump”. It may be that the “hooligans of yesteryear”, working class, have been ignored for too long. It appears Tommy is the man in the center of the whole thing.
It’s almost...”and Trump can’t win”...along with Brexit + MAGA = ?
We shall see - but I have hope...it is there.
