Teachers have about 0.000000025% influence on student competence. Teachers have to work with the (lack of) material that walks in the door, and much of the material that walks in the door is pathetic.

Teachers have nothing to do with scores. Most of us are very good at our jobs, we are just hamstrung with the process; No discipline, imbeciles for administration who will do and say whatever to never go into the classroom again, a government that protects “certain” peoples, on and on.
Yes, I work only 190 days a year. I’d love to work more...PAY ME. Those that bitch about our easy schedule, we are paid for 190 days, think of the bitchin taxpayers if they had to actually pay us a salary. I pay 10% into retirement, will only collect after 30 years, and that is only 55% of my highest 5 years. I pay $600 a month for health care, it is not “free”. I’d say, after it’s all said and done, it’s not the glamorous free and easy money some of you believe. As an urban teacher I can tell you...the America you know and love...it’s over. I wish I could do something, anything, but...in 2-5 years...it’s over.
