Rome’s downfall was sending armies in foreign lands.
Third Reich in Germany went down after sending armies deep into Russia.
Mughal empire in India went down after it tried to conquer more territories southern India.
United States has burdened itself with national debt it can not pay back with wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya.

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

You ignore the Romans imported more and more foreign labor for everything including its armies .

Roman citizens were way out numbered in the end and the armies were foreign mercenaries who could care less . Talk about repeating and ignoring history
