“At Democratic Underground, poster after poster is calling for him to be killed for legally hunting a goat.”

Of course they are. They are evil. Plus, they can’t understand the concept of culling a herd. Hmmm.....

¿Quien es mas macho? The dope or the goat?

It is the equivalent to shooting a 75 year-old man. The animal would be dead within a couple years. At that point, you have to quote the Outlaw Josey Wales. “The buzzards gotta eat, same as the worm.”

deforestation and logging

I don't see anything in the background that even comes close to forestation. All I see are rocks and some snow capped peaks.....

With that being said, that's a beautiful animal and it's unfortunate it was taken as a trophy..........

I don't like this kind of hunting.....

Try harder. That’s not even worthy of further reply.

At Democratic Underground, poster after poster is calling for him to be killed for legally hunting a goat.

They apparently didn't read the article. Pakistan allows a control hunt (just 12 per year). The money raised is put back into the community to increase the mountain goat's population. The result has been increasing the number of these mountain goats.

It does seem odd and this is the first I've ever heard of this approach. But these are beautiful animals and anything that works sound great.

I wonder how many Pok-ee-stainies would choose a goat over $100,000?

Probably more than I want to admit.

I agree. I have understood animal management since I was taught it as a little boy.

Your distaste of his actions are like most on this thread in that they are rooted in class envy. Had the headlines said that he spent $1 on his hunt, then no one would have had a beef. That goat would have been dead in a year or two anyways.

I can guarantee it wasn’t like that. Look at the terrain behind him and tell me how easy that hunt was. I’ve done some of that and the average Joe off the street would quit after three hours. There over 100 peaks in Pakistan over 7000 METERS not feet! It is some of the most brutally physical hunts that you can take. Try it and tell me how easy it is! You have no idea. Marco Polo sheep are in the same area and they are known to be the toughest hunt on earth, it sure as hell isn’t “here it is, shoot it”!

I have doubts that you would even be able to get to the area where he shot it. He probably covered 15 or 20 miles a day at 18000 feet mostly up and down. Look at the terrain and think a little bit before saying how easy it was! It was an easy shot, doesn’t mean he walked up and shot it, he walked all right, likely over 75 miles in horrible terrain.

"...look at the terrain..."

Great post, allwrong57. Aside from being a successful person financially, that man is an excellent athlete.
Tracking that surefooted animal for hours (if not days) at that altitude would require near Olympian-like endurance.
Lots of envious people on this thread insulting this man for no reason at all. Maybe he also donates $10,000 per year to the ASPCA for all we know.

He donated over $100,000 to wildlife conservation of this goat species. No one on FR, I’d wager, ever has done as much.

The replies of the leftist, anti-hunting, anti-wildlife conservation, anti-capitalist ignoramuses here are astounding. They all sound worse than the ‘tard from the Bronx. When it comes to guns or hunting such fools are in AOC’s corner. Disgusting isn’t it.

I’ve personally packed out four caribou 3.5 air miles across Alaskan terrain at 60 years old. I’m not sure I could begin to do this hunt if someone else paid for it. Unfortunately, if the hunt was given to me, I’d sure try it!

He’s a small dick pretending to be a mighty, mighty hunter.

I wouldn't know or care about his dick size, but if that's your criteria for evaluation of a hunter...I pass.

They are so many things absolutely stupid with what you just said, you should immediately run to the sink and wash the AOC out of your mouth.

You do realize there are so many deer now because of hunting.

Goats can taste great by the way, but you would never know. Did you know in the wild the eat pretty much the same things as deer? Maybe that is why? You think? And no it was’t a puppy. It was’t somebody’s pet. It was a goat that ate weeds and whose poop stinks.

It is a simple equation. Trophy hunting to shoot these deer and the species survives. No trophy hunting and the species is eradicated.

Wildlife conservation is not your forte, or are you a greenie just generally in favor of extinctions.
