This dance studio is where Larson comes to feel empowered occasionally via the outstretching of jazz hands and that means you can spare her any "you-go-girl" lines or confetti cannons full of condescension. Yes, she is playing the title role in the more than $150 million Captain Marvel, the 21st movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and first ever from the wildly successful Disney division to be fronted by a woman. But, three years after she won an Oscar for her performance in the indie drama Room, the 29-year-old actress is confident enough to reject your media narrative about box office stakes and the fate of women and blah blah blah because Larson has read this story before and she knows how it ends.
"There's this sense of setting this thing up," Larson says. "I know it's exciting and fun to be like, 'Will it sink or will it float?' 'What's going to happen?' 'Can women exist in the world?' 'We're not sure yet!' But women have been opening movies since the silent era. We have been part of every major art movement. People just push us away once the movement gains momentum and act like we were never really there."

Why would you post this?
I’ve seen a couple trailers. It looks super lame.
She's a relatively new superhero, I've never heard of her since they were talking about this and I'm a huge comic book fan.
I'll give you two guesses...
because general/ chat is a good place for it?
it’s not like it’s in Breaking News.
Butter Face.
Maybe I’m older than I thought, but when I was a kid, Captain Marvel was a man.
Yeah, it’s yet another womyn power BS movie.
Sick of this crap.
Buffy was original and funny, and happened to have a woman as lead.
Now, it’s “let’s regurgitate a Superman plot and make it original by making Superman a woman!”
Ghostbusters PMS, part Deux.
Brie?......Did someone say 'BRIE'!?!?!?!?!?....................
Thats a nasty, saggy rack for such a young actress
That’s what I remember too, but I saw Captain Marvel on the cover on a comic in the store and that’s as far as I ever got. Never read the comics. Just knew of the name.
THAT’S the Marvel of it.
I dunno. She’s rather pleasant, IMO.
Oh well, the Marvel movies were fun while they lasted.
I’m definitely going to that movie. Wonder Woman was in the DC Universe. CM is Marvel.
Women used to get star billing in most movies even though they weren’t really the protagonists.
I don’t know why some people are hung up about this movie. I’m guessing they think that Captain Marvel will be some sort of social justice warrior. I don’t think that will be the case, but I’m willing to give it a shot.
I’ve seen all the MCU movies except Ant-Man and the Wasp and Black Panther, both of which I will see eventually. Most that I saw were excellent, the worst were good. Solid good clean fun with lots of action, humor and great characters.
No doubt ifinnegan will show up at some point and tell us he/she doesn’t care, or wants to save the world from cultural rot. I understand that some people don’t get the appeal of these movies.
But they make a shitload of money.
Yeah. Thanks.
It’ll make a billion.
Wonder Woman is DC Comics, not Marvel.
