White students of any economic level do zero to help with the University’s most urgent mission, which is to “increase diversity.”

Are they going to start some new program to help “poor white students” get into college? On top of student loans, financial aid, etc.?

By missing out on a university education they will avoid three years of brain-washing. They may perhaps even join the EDL (English Defence league). Perhaps that is what concerns the Guardianistas most?

This is because leftists hate white people and want to destroy the race. Diversity is just a dog whistle for being anti-white.

When we were trying to find scholarships for our kids, it was glaringly obvious the vast majority were only for black and hispanic kids. Whitey need not apply.

I was lucky enough to be brought up in the final generation of working class families that wete helped and given a chance to improve our lot (born in 63).I firmly believe the middle classes shafted the working man.

Kind of a circular argument in the US, more than in the UK. Because of we have a decent meritocracy, the smart poor are able to rise through life and not be poor. Then, their children are not children of the poor, as they originally had been. Thus, if we continue to be a meritocracy with this dynamic at work over time, over time there will be fewer and fewer college-material students coming from among the poor in our ranks.
