I hate the term “hate crime”.
First, my grammar NAZI tirade. “Hate” is not a noun or an adjective. See above.
Second, this means some crimes are more equal than others, huh? So, same exact thing happens to some guy on the street in a beat-down. Guy A has no IDable “classification” except maybe hetero white male, and neither does perp. Perp gets 1 charge. Guy B looks same but IS a homo, and/or perp yells epithet while beating. Perp gets 2 charges.
Same result, but different input. This justifies getting BIGGER charges and punishment? Why? Because your feelings were hurt too?
Third, going back to second - isn’t “hate crime” kind of redundant? Are there “love crimes”? “Neutral crimes”? Who committing crime had love on his mind?
