One weird trick. It involves a hammer.

Nothing works against a spoofed number. Nothing other than leaving the ringer off.

I like the spoofed numbers. Any call from my area code that doesn’t have a name attached to it is almost certainly a robocall. And if it’s not, well, they’ll leave a message.

I have a flip-phone that allows only contact list phone numbers to ring through. It’s a setting buried deep in the menus but it works GREAT!

For all of the other smart phone features I have a hand-me-down iPhone that is no longer hooked to the cell phone system but is obviously wifi capable and has cameras and GPS. It dooesn’t get phone calls either.

I've started getting calls on my cell phone from numbers with the same area code and exchange as mine. My area code is a newer one so I don't know anyone who has the same one.

I wish I could block all calls from the area code/exchange in question but I'm too stupid to figure out how...assuming it can be done at all.

This works.

This is my second one. The first one (an earlier version) got full of blocked numbers. I have it in parallel with this one so it's still blocking old numbers while I add new numbers to block with this one.

Almost all of the telemarketers use spoofed numbers these days. If I get a call from someone NOT in my directory I usually don’t answer.

We switched to an unlisted number on our landline (I know, archaic) and the robo calls went down by quite a bit. Still a few getting thru and Century Link blocks them upon request.

Panasonic makes cordless sets that have a built in call block feature.

Yup.

“If you receive a call from an unknown number or one that doesn’t show up on caller ID, don’t answer. If it’s an important call, the person will leave a message and you can get back to them. “

I bought one of those CPR V5000s for the landline.

It catches a number of them and helps block repeat calls from PBA and charity calls.

We still get them though. I wish these chumps would go away.

Nothing works against a spoofed number. Nothing other than leaving the ringer off.

Switch on the "Do not disturb" function and your phone will only ring when someone in your contacts list calls.......

If someone not in your contacts (like maybe your doctor or pharmacy) is really trying to reach you, they'll leave you a voice mail.......

If KK doesn’t even mention spoofed calls, she’s worthless.

Spoofing should be a felony.

If there was even ONE thing the stupid scum politicians could agree on I wish it would be to make ANY and ALL of these types of calls illegal.

I despair that anything will reduce the number of robo calls on my landline, because there seems to be something behind their explosive increase. We have a phone that allows us to block up to 50 numbers. Within two months that buffer was full. The calls have been increasing in number and cleverness tremendously over the last year. Most of these seem to be debt collectors calling for people we never heard of, mortgage refinance companies, and auto, home, and health insurance companies. A large number of the calls are spoofed and, if answered, produce nothing but a dial tone or a click.

Exactly.
They’ve been spoofing numbers for over a year now. Do they think we are slow?
I am even less likely to pick up a call with the same area code and prefix as my number, not more.
