Senator Elizabeth Warren said on Friday that if elected U.S. president she would seek to break up tech companies Amazon.com Inc, Alphabet Inc’s Google and Facebook Inc as part of a structural change to the sector aimed at promoting competition. Warren, who is seeking to stand out in a Democratic field crowded with progressives, said in a blog post that the companies have been allowed to purchase potential competitors, like Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram. “They’ve bulldozed competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field against everyone else. And in the process, they have hurt small businesses and stifled innovation,” Warren wrote.

She doesn’t actually want to do this herself. But she sees that Trump is likely to do this. Then she can step up and say “It was my idea”.

You only do a break up if there are no competitors. Amazon has significant competitors in every business they are in. Wal Mart competes effectively for online shopping, Microsoft and IBM compete effectively for cloud services.
Facebook is actually declining right now and is losing out to Snapchat and Instagram.
Google you could make a stronger case for in certain market segments, though defining those segments could be a problem. What they really control is information.
This is called biting the hand that feeds you... but it is strictly for show in this case.
Facebook owns Instagram.
The Deep State already has a poison tomahawk with her name on it—just in case she actually gets any traction. :-(
Don’t kid yourself. In the end this will devolve to government control of all these enterprises. People like Warren loathe any kind of private sector profitability because they hate capitalism.

No, this is to shake more money from those pinatas. The beating will stop once they’ve dropped the right amount of cash.
