A group of German authors, comedians and academics have added fuel to the flames of an increasingly bad-tempered culture war over language bias by calling for a fightback against “ridiculous linguistic constructions” designed to make German more gender-neutral.
In an open letter published by the Dortmund-based German Language Association, signatories including the philosopher Rüdiger Safranski, novelist Peter Schneider, comedian Dieter Hallervorden and the former head of the country’s domestic intelligence Hans-Georg Maassen, hit back against calls for more gender-neutral generic nouns..(snip)

German grammar could not deal gender neutral nouns and adjectives.
German grammar is so highly structured about the gender of the words that it would fall apart if they tried to enforce gender neutral anything.
I remember saying something similar to my high school German teacher.

And those are just the ways to say "the" depending on case and gender.
Then the German language must die and be replaced by a gender neutral Newspeak, for the rainbow hath spoken.
I think other languages have the same issues, with gender nouns and adjectives.
will those languages evolve, to make the radical feminist types happy?

I remember that and it was a major faux pas if you F’d it up when speaking Deutsch.
the problem in English is that the preferred-by-some ‘they’ and ‘them’ are not singular.
One person is transformed into a multiple. Example: “They are smart and we are proud of them.’ It just doesn’t come off right and leaves people looking around for the rest of ‘them’. And implies that ‘they’ are more important than ‘I’.

English does not have the same kinds of gender forms.
The nouns are basically all *it*, and there is no modifying the adjectives to agree with the gender of the nouns.
English has many of its own quirks that make it difficult to learn, but noun gender is not one of them.
Most religions believe God created man and woman, not it and it.
