'I don't hate him, I love him': Widower forgives Christchurch gunman who killed his wife
Newshub ^ | 03/17/19 | Thomas Mead

Posted on 03/19/2019 9:43:13 AM PDT by Simon Green

A senior leader at the Deans Ave Mosque who lost his wife in the terror attack says he has forgiven the shooter.

Farid Ahmed says the extraordinary gesture to the man who killed so many of his friends is what his wife would have wanted.

The widower was first interviewed at the cordon on Friday shortly after the shooting broke out. At the time, he hadn't heard from his wife, and since then he's received terrible news.

Husna Ahmed ran classes for children at the mosque, while her husband gave sermons.

"She was probably more open than me; she could reach anyone, she was magnetic," Farid Ahmed told Newshub.

On Friday, their peaceful life came shattering down as a shooter tore through the mosque where they had served for 20 years.

"What she did when the shooting started, she organised the ladies and children to go out, she was leading them," Ahmed says.

The pair were in separate rooms, and Farid Ahmed - who uses a wheelchair - couldn't flee.

"I thought I was not going to come out, and I was prepared to die. That's why in the moment I just thought, 'No point in panicking, I'd better be calm and ready'."

Husna got the women and children together and led them to safety before going back to rescue her husband of 25 years.

"Then when they were in a safe place, she was coming back for me - and that is the time when she was coming towards the gate, that is the time," her husband says.

On Friday, waiting outside the cordon in the hours following the terrorist attack, Farid spoke to Newshub hoping his wife was okay.

"At this stage, I don't know where my wife is, she was in the ladies room," he said.

Then he got the worst news he could imagine. She had lost her life trying to save him.

On Sunday night, people have been their respects, remembering a woman renowned for kindness of her own - and despite the terrible act of hatred, Farid Ahmed has found a way to forgive the shooter.

"I love him to be honest," he says.

"I think probably he went through some trauma in his life, probably he wasn't loved... I don't hate him at all, I don't hate him at all, not at all."

Forgiveness is what Farid says is what his wife Husna would have wanted.

"She's brave, and she gave her life saving others," he says.

And despite his awful ordeal, he's has become a rock in his community

After breaking the worst news possible to his own daughter, he has spent the afternoon stepping in for his brothers and sisters.

He's been breaking in the bad news for other families who have lost loved ones, and taking on their emotional burden at the time of need.

His final message today was one we can all live by, no matter what we believe.

"If someone does bad to you, do good in return."

Uh, he’s muslim, a satanic creature of hate, he has no capacity to love anyone, he’s happy to collect the life insurance and free to get another wife to abuse and oppress that is why he is happy.

It's not about forgiveness....it doesn't change a thing.

It's about recognizing the existence of evil and that there must be some standard of justice.

He has voiced what would be more typically a Christian sentiment than an Islamic one. And thus are the complexities of faith in this world. I do acknowledge Christ as supreme, but also observe that at times He calls the Holy Spirit in for the save in situations where Christians do not explicitly worship.

Mankind has worse enemies than loons with guns. These enemies are known as the devils of hell.

Evil originates in an entity that is both larger and stronger than mankind. If mankind unites around God (not the loony distortion which so often is the Koranic Allah) then evil can be squeezed out — but not by anything less.

A joke:
Farmer had a mule, kicked his mother in law in the head and killed her. At the funeral women would come up and he would nod his head yes - men would come up and he would shake his head no, the parson noticed and asked why the different reactions, the fella said, well the women kept saying how sorry they were, the men kept asking to borrow the mule.

He’s right. Forgiveness is most definitely NOT a part of Islam. That’s why they’re still fighting internecine battles that literally started at the death of Mohammad.

If a Muslim is saying this, one of two things must be true: either he didn’t like his wife and wanted to be rid of her, and is thankful for that; or he’s flat-out lying to fool infidels.

Islam is hard to get a grips on for most Westerners because the level of savage inhumanity embedded within it, and permeating all its features, is nearly incomprehensible to civilized people. You need to adopt a savage mind to even begin to understand what Islam is about.

There is absolutely nothing in Islamic theology, the Koran, or the Hadith to require or even think of loving your enemy. The Koran is very specific about the actions you are supposed to take against non-believers or enemies.

This is also reiterated in the Hadith about what you can say to unbelievers (lies) in order to save your life.

He is parroting what he thinks the Christians would say, and even though he might be trying to engender those feelings within himself, they will eventually fail.

I think this is the same man who was strikingly calm when interviewed shortly after the incident.

It was an odd thing to watch.

A far more forgiving man than me.

An alternative view here. I hope I am wrong. For it was the ending in George Orwell's 1984 that Orwell dealt with the final absolute defeat.

After the complete destruction of Winston Smith and his lady. The torture with the rat about to be sprung in his face, Smith surrendered. Now he is given his "freedom". He sits down bleary with "victory gin" and rotten cigarettes. Tears run down his cheeks. For he now loves "Big Brother".

A long shot here, but could we have witnessed the politically correct dogma? I hope the bereaved man comes to loath and detest the swine that did this to his lady. There seems to be something afoot here. Total capitulation, no matter what.

Please excuse my rant everyone.

Love and Islam are not compatible. Its hard for people in general to grasp concepts that are foreign and contradictory to their own culture. German and Russian cultures were not that foreign to Western civ, yet look at what was done to millions in WWII. Take time to learn Islam. It is hard for us to grasp that to lie, cheat, steal, deceive a non muslim is completely acceptable and encouraged for the ultimate promotion of Islam and its people. This man will not be criticized for what he said because it was to deceive his non-muslim audience into sympathy. In Islam, there are 2 completely different sets of cultural provisions. Muslim and non-muslim and they mostly contradict one another. Consequently, nothing a Muslim says or does can be believed or should be accepted at face value. Please don’t be offended by my post, I merely shared some hard to believe facts.
