When Uncle Sam sent me to Korea many moons ago when Marines still thought of 9mm as the enemy’s caliber, the rumor was that certain boarding houses, from the humble short time house to some much more elegant digs, offered services delivered by what we used the think of as the opposite gender, in exchange for Yankee Dollars.
Just a rumor, but I don’t remember any reports of hair drying or watching TV.
That could make more sense.
