The irony here is that Hitler and his Party were pretty much a Totalitarian form of Government using Socialism as a means just as Stalin was a Totalitarian using Communism as means for power.
The real irony though was that Hitler hated Stalin and the Communists and invaded to destroy them. Yet both committed such atrocities during the war that it hard to figure out who was worse.
I just recently finished reading Sir Max Hastings book “Armageddon”. on the last year of the war in Europe and it was one atrocity after another by both Germany and Russia but the brutality of Stalin may have been much worse than Hitler in some ways.
